A Saturday Night Out With College Buddies At A Local Bar And Grill Results In Drinking Problems And Alcohol Poisoning Symptoms

When Lois was in high school, she had acquired a reputation as an individual who hit the books real hard and who rarely, if ever, drank with her pals. She seemed highly motivated to "shine" academically so that she would be able to pursue a career that she not only got pleasure from but one that also gave her some security from a financial standpoint.

After Lois finished high school, she applied to and was accepted into a well known program in religion. Her logic for this decision was that this subject would be a good foundation for law school and would not be similar to the preponderance of law school applicants who major in political science at the undergraduate level.

Lois was the type of individual who worked diligently to reach her objective and then would take a breather when she could. As it turns out, however, most of the things she did between terms or during summer breaks were unrelated to drinking. Needless to say, Lois was anything but a partygoer. Now that her final examinations for her second year in law school were done and elated with the fact that she had done extremely well on her exams, however, she wanted to take a break and do some celebrating.

So Lois and a number of her friends went to a local watering hole where they had a few glasses of wine. As the evening advanced, Lois and her classmates continued to drink. In actual fact, she was having such a wonderful time that she didn't want the night to end.

After drinking about fifty minutes when Lois began to slur her speech, talk in a confused manner, and then pass out, in spite of this, her buddies instantaneously knew that they needed to call that they needed to call 911 and ask for medical assistance because they suspected that Lois was displaying alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Lois was very aware that she came close to dying from an alcohol overdose and, as a consequence, was happy to be alive. At the same time, however, she was somewhat depressed knowing that she had almost died the previous night. Her Mother and Father knew how rigorously she worked at the university and how little she permitted herself to experience a social life. Nevertheless, they also knew that Lois needed to avoid abusive and irresponsible drinking.

As a result, they recommended that down the road, whenever a drinking opportunity unfolds, that she always drink in moderation. Lois agreed and promised her friends and her parents that she would never again drink in an irresponsible and excessive manner. In her own words, "I never had an inkling that I might become one of the alcohol poisoning statistics in the local town newspaper. I now grasp the fact that abusive and excessive drinking is not for me. I promise that this will never happen again."

Fortunately, Lois was not only "book smart" but she also displayed a lot of. In other words, she instantaneously knew that she had made an error in judgment and made up her mind that she would never make the same error again. In actual fact, she now realized that she had involved herself in "binge drinking" and that even one instance of this kind of careless drinking can result in a loss of life.
