A Young Female Quits Drinking, Suffers Through Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms, And Makes Up Her Mind To Get Alcohol Rehab
Kayla is a twenty-five-year-old public records researcher who has been consuming alcohol in an abusive and irresponsible manner since she and her boyfriend decided to break up. In actual fact, for the past eleven months she has been drinking very nearly one-and-a-half bottles of wine every night, and on the weekends she also has been drinking a number mixed drinks during the day. In a word, Kayla has been drinking so excessively that it's a miracle that she hasn't suffered from alcohol withdrawals when she tried to quit drinking.
After feeling unhappy because she was beginning to forget about the importance of her health, Kayla finally told herself that enough is enough, that it's time to quit the self pity act, that it's time to quit the irresponsible drinking, and time to get going with her life. So the next Saturday morning at 10:30 AM, she determined that she would stop drinking cold turkey.
When she called her best girlfriend and informed her that she had stopped drinking and that after a few hours she all of a sudden began experiencing flu-like symptoms, Stacy, her best pal, told Kayla to call her medical practitioner and explain what she was going through.
Her healthcare practitioner informed her that she may be suffering from alcohol withdrawal symptoms and that she should have a neighbor or friend drive her to the emergency room as soon as humanly possible. Obviously her medical practitioner had called ahead and told the emergency room medical team to expect Kayla because when she got to the hospital, she was met by two ER workers who immediately asked her to lie down on the portable bed they had with them.
An emergency room healthcare professional administered some meds to address her flu-like symptoms and also gave her some meds to help get rid of the alcohol that was still in her system. After an hour or two, Kayla was taken from the ER and wheeled to the recovery room.
After she was in recovery for around an hour-and-a-half, Doctor Carlson, a substance abuse and chemical dependency specialist, came to see her. He took quite a bit of time and clearly explained that Kayla had suffered through alcohol withdrawals when she quit drinking because she had become alcohol dependent.
He then elucidated the fact that with excessive drinking on a daily basis, the person's brain progressively adapts to the alcohol so that it can perform in a "routine" way. When the drinker then all of a sudden refrains from drinking, understandably, the brain reacts by eliciting alcohol withdrawals. What is more, her doctor also discussed the different alcoholism symptoms that an alcohol dependent individual usually suffers through as the disease gradually gets worse.
Fortunately for Kayla, it was established that she was in the first stage of alcohol dependency and, as a result, she received a favorable forecast for a total recovery if she obtains the alcoholism therapy she requires.
Kayla told the healthcare practitioner that she will do whatever it takes to get sober and to reclaim her life. She also stated that she has an exceptional hospitalization policy that will probably pay for most, if not all, of the costs required for rehabilitation. It was apparent that Kayla was quite pleased with her optimistic medical forecast and felt reassured knowing that she will be able to get the alcohol dependency rehabilitation she requires so that she can begin the path to recovery.
