Iscar Announces A Brand New Family Of Slitting Cutters Applying Tang-Grip Technology And The Durability Of Sumo Tec Grades

Iscar now offers a family of high-performance slitting tools that merge the convenience and security of Tang-Grip clamping with the increased durability of the completely new Sumo Tec insert grades.

The concept, already proven successful in Tang-Grip parting tools, has now been spread to slitting cutters. In the patented Tang-Grip clamping system, inserts are press-fit into their pockets accompanying a special hand tool, and are clutched tightly in place without the need without requiring clamps, upper jaws or set screws that can weaken the insert and impede chip flow. The pocket design uses cutting forces to hold the insert seated solidly in position, eliminating any prospect of insert pull-out. The Tang-Grip clamping system also fosters increased accurate slitting cuts plus longer pocket and insert lifespan.

Iscar's Sumo Tec insert grades feature a special post-coating treatment which considerably boosts tool life and constancy.

Introduced in late 2007, the completely new Sumo Tec treatment smooths the insert's coated surface to dispose of microscopic stress raisers, reduce heat and friction and improve chip flow. The result is improved toughness and opposition to chipping and built-up edge, all leading to enhanced tool life. The golden-colored side on Sumo Tec inserts aides wear detection. Size for size, Tangslit cutters offer more teeth than Iscar's SGSF cutters, permitting higher feed rates.

All Tangslit and Tang-Grip inserts are attainable in J- or C-type chipformer geometries from Iscar.
